CITB Site Safety Plus

Achieving Behavioural Change (ABC)

This is one day course is delivered to help provide you with an understanding of how, by changing your attitude, behaviour, communication and worker engagement, at all levels, you can help prevent the chances of accidents occurring, by having a questioning attitude.

By the end of the course you will have a better understanding of:

  • The basic legal duties of employers and employees
  • Define hazards, risks and control measures
  • List possible causes of accidents
  • Understand the link between attitude and behaviour
  • Understand the costs of poor safety performance
  • Understand the benefits of good safety performance

The CITB have in place a minimum number of 6 delegates to run a course, with a maximum of 20. Should you have a group booking then a course rate can be negotiated

Certification, issued by the CITB, is valid for 5years

Health & Safety Awareness (HSA)

This one day course looks at potential hazards when on site, and gives practical advice on, not just keeping yourself, but your colleagues safe.

The course covers both your own individual and employer’s responsibilities, and what you can do if you think anyone’s health and safety is at risk.

By the end of this one day interactive course you will have an understanding of:

  • The need to prevent accidents
  • Health and safety law
  • How your role fits into the control and management of the site
  • Risk assessments and method statements
  • Performing work safely and asking for advice
  • How to report unsafe acts to prevent an accident

The CITB have in place a minimum number of 6 delegates to run a course, should you have a group booking then a course rate can be negotiated.

Certification, issued by the CITB, is valid for 5 years.

Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS)

This two day interactive course has been endorsed by the United Kingdom Contractors Group (UKCG) as the standard training for all supervisors working on one of their sites and provides an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues.

It also highlights both the legal responsibilities as well as the need to promote good health and safety.

By the end of the course the delegate will have an understanding of:

  • Health and safety law and how it applies to supervisors
  • Your supervisory responsibilities in controlling site safely
  • Risk assessments and the need for method statements
  • Effective site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings
  • Monitoring site activities effectively
  • Timely intervention when bad practice is identified

Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme Refresher (SSSTS–R)

This one day interactive course builds upon your health and safety knowledge by brining you up to date, with an overview of the relevant legislative changes and their impact on the workplace. It builds upon the original material you would have had from the initial SSSTS Course.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Implement all updated health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation affecting your supervisory role
  • Implement new guidance and industry best practice affected by changes
  • Fulfil your responsibilities regarding health, safety, welfare and the environment.

The CITB have in place a minimum number of 6 delegates to run a course, with a maximum of 20. Should you have a group booking then a course rate can be negotiated.

Certification, issued by the CITB, is valid for 5 years.

Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)

This interactive 5 day course, which can be run over one week or 5 days over 5 weeks, is for you if you’re considering, or already have, responsibilities for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling and administering groups of staff e.g. site manager.

It covers all relevant legislation affecting all Health & Safety whilst working in the building, construction and civil engineering sectors. The course covers the need for risk assessments, the implementation of the necessary control measures and implementing/maintaining appropriate communication to sustain a good health and safety culture within the workforce.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Implement all health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation affecting your daily work
  • Implement new guidance and industry best practice
  • State your duties and responsibilities with regards to health, safety, welfare and the environment
  • Lead a team safely.

Site Management Safety Training Scheme Refresher (SMSTS-R)

This two day interactive course is for you if you have previously passed the Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course, or a subsequent refresher course.

This refresher course will bring your health and safety knowledge up to date and provide a thorough overview of the legislative changes and how they impact in the workplace. It builds on the material in the original course as well as introducing new subject material such as –

  • Implement all health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation affecting your daily work
  • Implement new guidance and industry best practice
  • State your duties and responsibilities with regards to health, safety, welfare and the environment
  • Lead a team safely.
